Police release sketch of gunman in Clark airport engineer’s murder

Ding Cervantes, Ric Sapnu - The Philippine Star

CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga, Philippines – A special task group investigating the murder of the chief engineer of the Clark International Airport has released a sketch of the alleged gunman.

Tarlac police director Senior Superintendent Alex Sintin, head of Task Group Angeles, said the sketch was based on the description of witnesses in the killing of Ruel Angeles, 55, in Sta. Ignacia, Tarlac on Monday.

“The gunman and his accomplice who drove their getaway motorcycle did not wear masks. The gunman was wearing a baseball cap,” he said.

“We are checking the rogues’ gallery if the sketch has a match,” he added.

Angeles’ wife, Crosenia, who was wounded in the incident, is still confined at the Central Luzon Doctors Medical Hospital in Tarlac City. Their four-year-old grandson was unhurt.

Sintin said agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group went to Clark airport yesterday to start the investigation.

“I must admit some difficulty in this case,” he said.

Clark International Airport Corp. president and chief executive officer Emigdio Tanjuatco told The STAR he issued a memorandum ordering all CIAC personnel to cooperate with police investigators.

The killing occurred amid issues involving the bidding of the airport’s P250-million Instrument Landing System this month. Angeles was a member of the CIAC bids and awards committee.
