Leyte mayor, son decry harassment

BAYBAY CITY, Philippines  â€“ This city’s mayor, Carmen Cari, and her son, Leyte fifth district Rep. Jose Carlos Cari, are asking the Commission on Elections to augment government security forces here after two of their supporters were beaten up last Monday.

The Caris fear that violence could escalate. “It’s just one of many incidents,” said Rep. Cari, alleging their campaign leaders and followers have been harassed and intimidated.
