5 dead in Aklan hacking spree

MANILA, Philippines - Five people were killed while another was seriously wounded after a supposedly mentally ill man, armed with an axe, went on a hacking spree in Numancia, Aklan, yesterday morning, police said.

Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz, Philippine National Police spokesman, said the suspect, Erol Roldan, 32, was arrested shortly after hacking to death his own grandparents, Luciano Rivas, 92, and Anunsascion Rivas, 94, and three relatives.
