Pangasinan bags outstanding accounting award

-

LINGAYEN , Philippines  – The provincial accounting office of Pangasinan was recently adjudged one of the most outstanding accounting offices in the country.

The award was conferred by the Association of Government Accountants of the Philippines Inc. (AGAP) during ceremonies at L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City.

Marilou Utanes, officer-in-charge of the Pangasinan accounting office, said the award was “primarily a product of the unified effort of the entire accounting office as proven by timeliness of reports, accuracy and quality financial statements.”

“The leadership of Gov. Amado Espino Jr. is, of course, another major factor,” Utanes said, adding that the governor has institutionalized major reforms in fiscal management assuming the post in July 2007.

“With a very hardworking and dedicated leader like him who wants nothing but to provide excellent public service to Pangasinenses, everyone is inspired to follow and giving their respective duties their best shot,” Utanes said.

This year’s awarding ceremonies coincided with the yearly convention seminar of the AGAP with the theme, “The Global Financial Crisis: An Opportunity to Examine What We Are Doing Right.”

Other awardees include: Presidential Legislative and Liaison Office; Industrial Technology Development Institute; Government Arsenal; House Electoral Tribunal; Foreign Service Institute; Office of the Solicitor General and the Career Executive Services Board, for the Small National Government Sector.

Under the big national government sector category, the awardees were Nueva Viscaya State University, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, Cebu Normal University, and the Mariano Marcos State University.

Aside from Pangasinan, the province of Saranggani and Rizal were also cited as outstanding LGUs under the provincial level category.

The cities of Lipa and Laoag won under the city category, while the municipal level awardees include Midsayap, North Cotabato, Alicia, Bohol, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, Tobias Fornier, Antique and San Jose (Batangas).
