14 NPA rebs slain in Tarlac

Fourteen suspected communist rebels were killed and 12 high-powered forearms were seized in an encounter with Army troops in Sta. Ignacia, Tarlac yesterday, the military said.

Brig. Gen. Arsenio Tecson, commander of Task Force Samat, reported that the heavy firefight erupted when elements of the 69th Infantry Battalion, dispatched to check the presence of armed rebels, encountered the guerrillas shortly before noon. — Paolo Romero, Ric Sapnu
