MANILA, Philippines — Senators unanimously approved Sen. Bam Aquino’s resolution to honor BINI’s historic performance at last month’s Coachella festival in California.

The eight-member BINI was present at the Senate plenary on Wednesday, May 4 as Aquino cited the P-pop group’s latest achievement, highlighting Filipino music and creativity on a global stage.

The Senate approved Resolution 370 citing BINI for representing the country and its culture.

Coachella is an annual music and arts festival where the biggest names in music perform for their audience and streamed live to millions of audience world wide. This year's lineup included Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, and K-pop group BIGBANG, who is marking its 20th anniversary this year.

BINI had a whole set on the two weekends, April 10 and 17, at Coachella’s Mojave stage where they performed their popular hits, such as “Pantropiko,” “Cherry on Top,” “Karera,” and “Salamin, Salamin.”

Members Jhoanna, Maloi, Colet, Mikha, Aiah, Sheena, Stacey and Gwen were present at the Senate, as well as ABS-CBN executive Lauren Dyogi.

The lawmakers who took the floor to co-author the Senate resolution all cited BINI’s songs in their speeches. Apart from Aquino, they are the brothers Raffy and Erwin Tulfo, Joel Villanueva, Jinggoy Estrada, Loren Legarda and Risa Hontiveros.
