Italian Scooters make a Grand Comeback

MANILA, Philippines - MotoItalia Philippines, Inc., a synergy between GBI Group and the Autohub Group, recently held a press conference to announce the resurgence of stylish Italian scooters in the country.

During the event held last October 9 at their new MOTO Greenhills showroom at 324 Ortigas Avenue in North Greenhills, San Juan, MotoItalia announced its appointment as the official Philippine distributor of Piaggio & C S.p.a., one of the top 4 largest manufacturers of 2-wheeled vehicles in the world and the Number 1 two-wheeled brand in Europe, with iconic brands Vespa, Aprilia and Moto Guzzi and popular brands Piaggio, Gilera and Derbi. Piaggio & C S.p.a. also manufactures small 3- and 4-wheeled vehicles under the Ape and Porter brands.

GBI Group’s core competencies in importing, marketing and distributing mid-level to high-end lifestyle brands and the Autohub Group’s network of dealerships and expertise in marketing automotive products led the Asia Pacific office of Piaggio & C S.p.a. to grant the distributorship of their product lines in the Philippines to MotoItalia Philippines, Inc. MotoItalia officers present during the inauguration were Benita Q. Tee Ten, chairperson of the Autohub Group; Willy Tee Ten, Autohub Group president; Nelson Guevarra, chairman of MotoItalia; Richard Teh, director; and Christine Chua, president.

As its initial offering, MotoItalia will re-introduce style-conscious Filipino motorcyclists and scooter enthusiasts to exciting scooter models from Vespa, Gilera and Piaggio. The stylish models that will be initially offered at the MOTO Greenhills showroom are the Piaggio Fly 150, Piaggio Xevo 400i.e., Piaggio MP3 250 i.e. RL and Piaggio MP3 400 i.e. RL; the Vespa LX 150 and Vespa GTS 250 i.e.; and the Gilera Runner ST200, and Gilera Fuoco 500 i.e.

The exciting Piaggio Fly 150 will be the company’s price leader at P140,000 while the luxurious Piaggio Xevo 400 i.e. will be priced at P470,000. The range of retail prices for the stylish Vespa models will be between P245,000 to P345,000 while the futuristic Piaggio MP3 models will be priced between P550,000 to P625,000. The sporty Gilera Runner ST200 will retail at P320,000 and the powerful Gilera Fuoco 500 i.e. will be offered at P630,000.

MotoItalia Philippines is planning to introduce the high-performance motorcycle products of Piaggio & C S.p.a. under the Aprilia, Moto Guzzi and Derbi brands in the near future. Aside from their first MOTO Greenhills showroom, MotoItalia is putting up two more locations in 2010.
