Korean woman accuses Korean man of rape try

Flor Z. Perolina - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A Korean woman has accused a Korean man of attempting to rape her inside her apartment in Floremer Subdivision in barangay Banilad, Mandaue City last Dec. 29.

Insp. Philip Silva, chief of the City Intelligence Branch of the Mandaue City Police Office, said the woman, out of generosity, told the 60-year-old man he can celebrate his birthday at her apartment last December 28.

On the night of Dec. 28, the woman, her two children,  aged eight and 10 years old, and the man had dinner.      After dinner, the man and the woman drank until late in the evening.

When it was time to call it a day, the man asked if he could sleep in the apartment, saying he was too drunk to go home.

She allowed him to sleep in the living room.

After cleaning up the table, the woman went to her room and slept with her two children.

At around 2 a.m., she was awakened and surprised to see the man naked and on top of her.

She said she resisted. Awakened by the noise, her children screamed, prompting the suspect to put on his pants and flee. He left behind a traveling bag.

The police searched for the man in his former school and in his apartment in Cebu City but failed to find him.

Insp. Silva said the woman and the man were former classmates in an English tutorial school in barangay Talamban.

The woman’s husband is in Korea.

The woman underwent a medical examination at the Pink Room of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center last Thursday.

Silva said an attempted rape case has been filed against the man.

He said the police will also seek for a hold departure order against the man who, according to information, is set to leave the country this week. (FREEMAN)
