Sara consolidates support from Bulacan officials

BALIUAG, Bulacan, Philippines — Vice presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) led another productive swing in Bulacan on Sunday after she secured the support of several mayors.
The mayors who expressed support for Carpio were Ferdinand Viceo Estrella of Baliwag, Roderick Tiongson of San Miguel, Enrico Roque of Pandi, Carla Galvez-Tan of San Ildefonso, Francis Albert Juan of Bustos and Anastasia Vistan of Plaridel.
Board Member Cholo Violago, a mayoral aspirant of San Rafael town, also expressed support for Carpio, who thanked each local official during the “Sara para sa Barangay” event in Baliuag.
Carpio was accompanied by her campaign manager and Lakas-CMD president House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez of Leyte.
She also met with the Dumagats in Barangay Kalawakan, Doña Remedios Trinidad town.
During a similar event in San Miguel, Tiongson said he feels elated whenever he sees Carpio, whom he referred to as the “eagle of Mindanao.”
In San Miguel, Carpio was joined by UniTeam senatorial candidate Herbert Bautista, Robin Padilla and former San Juan City vice mayor Janella Ejercito Estrada, who represented her father Jinggoy Estrada.
Following the Bulacan sorties, Carpio and some members of the UniTeam Senate slate went to Barangay Potrero in Malabon for the UniTeam grand rally.
Meanwhile, the General Parent-Teacher Association-Kabite Federation threw its full support to the candidacy of Carpio.
The group is an organization of PTA officers from 18 municipalities in Cavite.
Carpio said she is elated with the support of the group.
In Lamita, Basilan, Vice Mayor Roderick Furigay and his party PDP-Laban declared support for Marcos and Carpio.
