PPCRV urges delisted voters to register for 2022 polls

MANILA, Philippines — The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) has called on at least seven million delisted voters to go out and register for the 2022 national and local elections, a few months before the September 2021 voter registration deadline.
PPCRV executive director Maria Isabel Buenaobra said in an interview with Church-run Radyo Veritas that the seven million delisted voters would mean a lot in the May 2022 elections if they will be able to meet the registration deadline.
“We call on them to register because the 2022 national and local elections is a high stakes election. You need to use your right to vote,” Buenaobra said in Filipino.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) delisted at least seven million voters after they failed to cast their votes in two consecutive elections.
To help the Comelec in the information dissemination campaign on voters’ registration, Buenaobra said they are coordinating with the different dioceses in the country to encourage the delisted voters to go out and re-register.
She said the PPCRV is confident that the Comelec will be able to achieve its target before the Sept. 30 deadline.
