Hottest day: Cabanatuan sizzles at 39.8 ºC
The warmest weather was experienced in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau registered on Thursday the hottest temperature so far in the country this year at 39.8 degrees Celsius.

The warmest weather was experienced in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Based on its weekly weather outlook, the easterlies and the ridge of high pressure area will continue to bring hot and humid weather throughout the country until Sunday.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms this weekend.

From Monday to Wednesday, the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) – a breeding ground for low-pressure areas – will bring scattered rains over Mindanao and Eastern Visayas.

On Thursday up to Friday, the ITCZ will persist over Mindanao, bringing scattered rains over the region as well as over Eastern Visayas, Palawan, some parts of Mimaropa, Southern Panay and Negros Island.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will continue to experience warm weather with chances of thunderstorms in some areas during the outlook period.

PAGASA said no tropical cyclone is expected to enter the country next week.
