Decreasing Noy's popularity attributed to warring factions

- Christina Mendez -

MANILA, Philippines - Senate majority leader Vicente Sotto III attributed yesterday the alarming decline in the popularity rating of President Aquino to the warring factions within his political circle.

Sotto likewise blamed the members of the two communication teams of President Aquino for failing to tell the nation the positive accomplishments of the barely one-year-old administration.

Reacting to reports that the warring political factions within the President’s circle are positioning their bets for the Ombudsman post, the senator said the infighting – if indeed true – can also be attributed to the President’s fast-declining popularity and trust ratings.

“The number one problem why I think the President’s ratings are in the rock bottom, is because his information team is not effective,” Sotto said over dwIZ radio.

Sotto said the President and his allies should stop blaming the media over its reporting on the wrongdoings of the government.

“(They report the negative) because there is something negative to report. The solution here is they should intensify the positive points. This also shows that they are unable to handle the media well,” the senator said.

Sen. Francis Escudero also echoed the sentiments of Sotto that the communication teams of President Aquino should do a better job. – With Marvin Sy
