DepEd celebrates World Teachers' Day on Oct. 5

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Education is celebrating World Teachers’ Day at the PhilSports Arena tomorrow.

“Our dear teachers work hard in their profession, we’ve also prepared hard to give them the utmost recognition they deserve on this special day,” said Education Secretary Armin Luistro.

This year’s celebration has the theme “My Teacher, My Hero.” Aside from the celebration at PhilSports Arena, there will be an open house in all offices of the DepEd from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Health and Nutrition Center will provide medical services from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Administrative/General Services Division will host a promotional booth and product sampling from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Human Resource and Development Service will provide workshops on wellness and stress management from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., personality and communication skills enhancement from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and livelihood/entrepreneurial skills from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Education officials attending the event are Commission on Higher Education Chairman Patricia Licuanan and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Director-General Joel Villanueva.

The DepEd has also invited the President, the Vice-President, and lawmakers.
