CEOBSA dominates Garcia horse eent

MANILA, Philippines - Host Cebu Equine Owners, Breeders and Sportsmen Association (CEOBSA) dominated the barrel race of the 2010 Goernor Gwen Garcia Cup Horse Show and Competition the other day at the Mandaue City reclamation area.

The isiting cowboys from Malaybalay also came out strong, but CEOBSA ably defended its turf.

CEOBSA swept the ladies open action, with a guest rider from Bohol under the Cebu team Jenica Eleazar winning the top spot. Alyssa and Anne Lawrence occupied the second and third spots, respectiely.

Matthew Miñoza handed CEOBSA its second title under the youth diision. He beat teammate Kyle Miole, while Impasugong’s John Daid Maestrado grabbed the third place honors.

Another guest rider of CEOBSA, Patrick Eleazar, missed the noice title to Malaybalay’s Clinton Corona as Impasugong’s Amor Mahistrado landed third.

Malaybalay had a 1-2-3 finish in the intermediate diision through the efforts of Dondon Paano, Leo Paano and Derby Casibe.

Like Eleazar, Arnel Martinez failed to take home a title after he wast outsmarted by Ronaldo Gonzaga. Marlo Aquino wound up third.

Cagayan de Oro’s Iko Roa topped the premiere experts class with a time of 19.39 seconds. Malaybalay’s Adam Sulogan placed second in 19.49 seconds, while his teammate Ben John Mahistrado came in third in 19.57 seconds.

Jojo Mahistrado was the best rider among the royals with the time of 21.23 seconds in the barrel race followed by Bacolod’s James Dinsa in 21.95 seconds.– Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
