45 injured as bus turns turtle

At least 45 passengers were injured when their bus, reportedly running beyond the speed limit, turned turtle along a slippery stretch of the North Expressway in Bocaue, Bulacan yesterday morning.

Those injured were taken to various hospitals in Sta. Maria, Bulacan.

The driver of the Baliwag Transit bus, a certain A.F. Bernardo, reportedly fled the scene after the accident.

Initial reports reaching the Department of Transportation and Communications said the Manila-bound bus was speeding on the highway near Barangay Taal in Bocaue at about 7 a.m. when the driver lost control of the wheel because of the slippery road.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board is investigating the incident. -
