‘Why would he need permission?’: Catriona Gray reacts to Sam Milby's sexy scenes with Ivana Alawi
MANILA, Philippines — Singer-actor Sam Milby is believed to have intimate scenes in his new series with actress and YouTube sensation Ivana Alawi, but Sam’s girlfriend, Catriona Gray, seemed unbothered.
In a recent exclusive interview with Philstar.com, Gray stressed that she trusts Milby enough that he need not tell her about his activities in his projects — steamy scenes included.
“Why would he need to ask permission from me? I mean, it’s his work. He doesn’t limit me on my work. He’s very supportive, I’m very supportive much the same. I understand his craft as an actor doesn’t play into personal life and I want to support him in every capacity that I can for his craft,” Miss Universe 2018 said following her short talk as brand ambassador of Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance, a complete skincare line for the face and body. Products include Brightness Reveal Creamy Cleanser, Brightness Refresh Toner, Brightening Day Protection Cream SPF 15, Brightening Night Comfort Cream, Brightness Reveal Body Wash, Brightness Reveal Bar and Brightening Lotion.
When asked if she would ask Sam for his permission should she, too, would have to take on a mature role, she explained: “I wouldn’t ask permission in the first place. I mean, it’s my own personal prerogative, right?”
“So ‘yun, should be my own decision. I shouldn’t have to ask my partner for that. I think. That’s my personal thing.”
Boy Abunda, in his column for PSN Showbiz, wrote that Ivana admitted that she used to have a big crush on Sam.
“Kasi pinapanood ko na sila before, si Gerald and Sam. So I was very excited to work with them. Si Sam crush na crush ko siya dati. Napanood ko siya sa mga movies at teleserye niya sa ABS-CBN. Kaya nga natatakot ako, siyempre ‘pag naging crush mo isang tao tapos makakatrabaho mo, feeling ko nga very intimidating siya. Pero hindi pala, kabaligtaran pala. Natatakot ako na makaeksena siya. No’ng first time naming nagkita, puro siya biro. Gusto niya comfortable kaming lahat,” she said.

When asked about cheating, Sam told Salve Asis for her column: “Siyempre every situation is different so it’s hard to generalize. Pwedeng may pagkukulang 'yung partner so hinahanap ‘yung pagkukulang sa partner sa ibang tao. Para sa akin, cheating is cheating. Kung may problema sa relasyon dapat pag-usapan n’yo."
When asked how he discussed his compromising scenes in the series with Catriona, Sam relayed: “Yeah, hindi siya actress. Medyo kapapasok lang sa spotlight in that sense. We try to keep our relationship very private. The one thing with her is naiintindihan niya kahit hindi siya actress. We’ve had a few talks and she’s very very understanding and I think that’s hard to find. Obviously someone that’s not in the business that just having that understanding na ‘ito ang trabaho ko.’ And hindi siya selosa and just understanding, and the trust is there so I’m thankful that I have someone like that.”
