Philippine team winner at 19th APHCA Hair and Makeup Olympics

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine team won in all five categories at the 19th Hair and Makeup Olympics held at the Chuto Plaza Hotel in Taoyan, Taiwan last Nov. 10 and 11.

‘We won, we won!’ Team leader Ricky Reyes, known as ‘Hair Majesty’ among hair stylists, texted The STAR from Taiwan a few minutes after the winners were announced.

Some 15 countries competed in five categories at the Olympics: Evening Party Makeup, Creative Color Styling, Men’s Cut, Ladies‘ Cut and Bridal Makeup.

‘I prepared for the competition for more than four months,’ said veteran make-up stylist Stephanie Ilagan, member of the Philippine team.  ‘Hindi nasayang ang effort ko.’

The Olympics will be aired on Ricky’s Gandang Ricky Reyes, Todo Na’ Toh (GRR TNT) show on GMA News TV on Nov. 21, starting at 9 a.m.
