Born to be Wild marks 7th year

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The first and only nature and wildlife series on Philippine television is now on its seventh year.

The Born to be Wild team, led by hosts Doc Ferds Recio (left) and Doc Nielsen Donato (photo), has traveled the Philippines and Asian countries to have viewers close encounters with the wild.

For the program’s anniversary, Doc Ferds and Doc Nielsen go on dream journeys to Central Europe and South Africa.

Although he has been a vet for more than two decades now, Doc Nielsen is still excited to see animals for the first time. The vet fulfills his dream of seeing the Big Five of South Africa, and majestic marine mammals like the Southern Right Whale. Another must see from Doc Nielsen’s journey is his face-to-face encounter with the Great White Shark.

Doc Ferds, on the other hand, explores the streets of Europe to see how cities are adapting to the changing environment. In episode one, Doc Ferds finds himself in Venice, where he witnesses a city built around water with its endless canals. With its world-renowned beauty, the city must still work around nature to ensure its own survival from threats of flooding and subsidence.

Catch Born to be Wild’s anniversary series, launching today right after AHA! on GMA 7.
