‘Bomba’ craze

REMEMBER WHEN? - Danny Dolor - The Philippine Star

The late ’60s and early ’70s saw the birth of ‘bomba’ (sexy) movies. One of the flicks of the ‘bomba’ craze is Busog, with Merle Fernandez in the title role, co-starring Vic Vargas, Bert Leroy Jr. and Philip Gamboa.

Merle topbilled what is considered a ‘classic’ of the ‘bomba’ craze, Uhaw.

The ‘bomba’ era — if it can be called one — produced flicks with suggestive and naughty titles: Gutom, Hayok, Saging ni Pacing, Batuta ni Dracula, Bukid Ay Basa, Climax of Love.

The imposition of Martial Law in September 1972 stopped the ‘bomba’ craze. — RKC
