PLDT myDSL wins at Philippine Quill Awards

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The most prestigious awards show for business communication in the Philippines recognizes once more PLDT myDSL’s excellence in communication campaigns. Following Awesome Hunt’s entry as a finalist in 2011, the Anna Banana campaign gets a merit under this year’s Communication category for Social Media. The awarding ceremony was held last Nov. 12 at the Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila, where a total of 368 entries vied for victory.

With the broadband market becoming congested in a pricing and speed game, PLDT myDSL proved itself to be the market leader by creating a campaign that stood out and won the hearts of the Filipinos — the Anna Banana. The campaign tells the story of an awkward yet charming teen called Derek, who performs his original song Anna Banana on YouTube, the kind which only a mom could dearly love. Watching day in and day out, the mom brought Derek’s video to 100 hits, a sweet success that matters a lot to any child and an endearing proof that a mom can show unconditional love even in this digital age. The charm of the Anna Banana campaign was so well-received, it became a viral sensation on YouTube, nearing five million hits.

With the Internet being mostly individualistic, PLDT myDSL changed the scenery by dramatizing how better connections at home can lead to rich shared experiences that bonds the family even more. Apart from its high achievement in the Philippine Quill Awards, PLDT myDSL became a brand that engaged and charmed its market.
