.Apl.de.ap celebrates The Global Pinoy .Dawn's Mini Me Ayisha's 3rd birthday

OH MY G! - Giselle Tongi-Walters - The Philippine Star

The 91st season of the Hollywood Bowl is indeed an exciting one for Filipino-Americans. Headlining at the Hollywood Bowl on July 8 is none other than our very own Black Eyed Peas’ Apl.de.ap. At a press conference held in Los Angeles recently, director of the Hollywood Bowl Arvin Minocha talked about why this is such a historic event as it is the first time that the Bowl gives the spotlight to the music of the Filipino culture and heritage.

Some of the artists that will be sharing the stage with Apl at the first-ever Filipino music party at the Bowl are Ogie Alcasid, Becca Godinez, Dessa, DJ E-Man, Harana Kings, Kayamanan Ng Lahi, Legaci, Martin Nievera, Jeremy Passion, will.i.am and Taboo, along with special guest Nicole Scherzinger. Hosting the affair are Hollywood actors of Filipino descent Lou Diamond Philipps, Vanessa Hudgens and comedian Jo Koy.

Filipino traditions such as the Harana and the Tinikling will be featured as the timeline and the evolution of Filipino music is the theme of the event. For the first time ever, our kababayan abroad will get to see Filipino world-class performers at the Hollywood Bowl. Indeed, this is going to be a historical evening.

If there is one woman that I have always looked up to in Philippine show business  without a doubt  it’s Dawn Zulueta-Lagdameo.

In my book, she is the epitome of beauty combined with substance and there is no disputing how talented of an actress she is. I remember how giddy I’d get watching her with Richard Gomez in the classic Siguion-Reyna love story of my generation, Hihintayin Kita sa Langit. They sure don’t make films like that anymore  and neither are there actresses like Dawn who continue to exude grace and glamour throughout the years. I’ve been seeing a lot of Dawn on TV recently since without fail, my entire household is mesmerized by her show Walang Hanggan where Dawn stars with Richard and Coco Martin, among others.

At a recent ABS-CBN trade launch that I attended as part of the cast of the fantaserye Aryana, I got to catch up with a dear friend, Vivian Recio who also happens to be my idols’ personal manager. She gladly escorted me to Dawn’s tent where she was getting ready and even after not seeing her after all these years, she radiates timeless beauty even more now. Motherhood definitely becomes her. Dawn and I spoke mostly about our children and how we each have a boy and a girl that are almost similar in age. Our children would get to finally play and meet each other.

Dawn’s adorable little girl, Ayisha Madlen celebrated her third birthday last weekend with a costume party and my family and I got to join in on the festivities. The little birthday celebrator was indeed the star as she sashayed around the party in her fairy wings and costume. Sakura dressed up as a princess and Kenobi was a ninja and both of them got to meet Jacobo, too, Dawn’s son who dressed up as Spiderman.

After having attended several other children’s parties around town, it was refreshing and I can appreciate how Ayisha’s special day was a very intimate gathering, with only family and a few friends in attendance. Happy birthday, Ayisha!
