Dentsu Aegis Philippines names new chief media officer

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Dentsu Aegis Network Philippines announced the appointment of Joanna Chan-Mojica, a celebrated media personality, as the new CEO of Carat Philippines and as Dentsu Aegis’ chief media officer, starting Jan. 1, 2018. She joins the network as a consultant effective Nov. 1.

“Joanna’s appointment, which carries a newly created role of chief media officer, is part of the process of evolving and strengthening the leadership team in Dentsu Aegis Philippines. We had a positive year of building up our talent bench following the integration of creative agencies ASPAC and Dentsu Jayme Syfu, as well as the engagement of Donald Lim as CEO of Dentsu Aegis Philippines,” said Dick van Motman, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network Southeast Asia.

Prior to joining Dentsu Aegis Network, Joanna pursued her passion in learning and exploring the digital space, and joined Certified Digital Marketer (CDM) – a pioneer in crafting comprehensive learning courses in marketing transformation, as a business partner. She also co-founded a start-up company, Metropolis, a data-driven enterprise leveraging on out-of-home as a platform.

“My two-year break from active media work enabled me to embrace a new unknown in the space of learning and digital. I am excited to join Dentsu Aegis Network, a network where digital is already weaved into its ecosystem. With its unique operating model of one P&L, I look forward to closer collaboration with industry stalwarts who possess the values I respect, and will allow much opportunity for one’s personal transformation journey,” Joanna said.

Joanna began her 22-year professional career in J. Walter Thompson’s media department, and her most recent full-time post was a CEO of Starcom MediaVest Philippines, the country’s largest media agency at that time. Joanna propelled Starcom MediaVest Group into sustained leadership as affirmed by globally respected Ranking Agency – RECMA.

Under her leadership, the agency picked up a slew of awards for its works at Festival of Media competitions, won accolades in local and regional awards like Tambuli, OAAP and Agency of the Year derbies, and put in place a comprehensive organizational development program, among other game-changing initiatives.

Over the course of her career, Joanna has worked in both agency and client side including GroupM, Mindshare Philippines, and The Coca-Cola Export Company.

Donald Lim, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network Philippines, commented: “I would like to warmly welcome Joanna into the Dentsu Aegis Network. I have known her for many years and have the highest regard for her professionalism, work ethics and business acumen. We share the same values, innovative ways of working, and passion towards building people and brands. She is a great addition to our growing Dentsu Aegis leadership family, and I look forward to working closely with her.”
