Tumulak open to helping Rama in some programs

Mary Ruth R. Malinao - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  Outgoing Cebu City Councilor David “Dave” Tumulak considers returning to the broadcast industry to continue helping the public in his personal capacity after losing his mayoralty bid in the last elections.

Tumulak is also open to helping re-elected Mayor Michael Rama in the implementation of some programs if the latter needs his assistance.

Despite running independent, Tumulak was able to put up a good fight against the political giants—Rama and former councilor Margarita Osmeña-- having garnered 141,225 votes or 24.07 percent of the city’s voting population.

He said he did not have enough machinery, so he expressed his gratitude to the volunteers who helped him in his journey.

With regard Rama's call for reconciliation with his political opponents, Tumulak said he has no problem with the duly elected mayor as they have never fought over politics.

He said he is even ready to help the mayor if he will need someone to assist him for the implementation of some programs in the city. Tumulak is in his last term as city councilor.

Among his notable contributions is his active participation in the city’s efforts in the fight against COVID-19, even during the start of the pandemic until now that the city is on the road to recovery with the ongoing vaccination.

Tumulak was one of the city officials tasked to find vaccination sites during the start of the vaccination program.

He is also the chairman of the City Council’s Committee on Disaster Risk Reduction Management, Safety, and Climate Change Adaptation. Tumulak thanked all his supporters and assured that his ability to help others will never fade. — FPL (FREEMAN)
