33 couples tie knot in Talisay mass wedding

Gabriel C. Bonjoc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  More than 30 couples took advantage of the free mass wedding at the Sto. Niño Parish in Barangay Mohon, Talisay City last Friday.

Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr. said that since he started his stint as a mayor, he would make it a point to sponsor a mass wedding during his birth month.

The young mayor celebrates his birthday on December 1.

The married couples come from the different barangays in the city who were identified to be living together for a long time already, but could not afford to have a wedding.

Gullas shouldered the expenses in getting the necessary documents for the ceremony, as well as the expenses for the reception after the wedding.

He added that the mass wedding is his Christmas gift to the couples.

Gullas also said that his administration would fully support those couples who are looking forward at getting married.

“Mas lami ug nindot gyud ang feeling nga maminyo ka, manumpa ka atubangan sa Ginoo,” Gullas said.

He is hoping that more couples would take advantage of the mass wedding that his administration is offering to its constituents.  GAN (FREEMAN)
