Consolacion man nabbed for harassing, threatening to kill sister

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A man was arrested after he allegedly touched his elder sister’s private parts and threatened to kill her yesterday in Barangay Tugbongan, Consolacion town.

The 46-year-old suspect (his name and that of his sister being withheld due to the nature of the case), appeared to be “high” on illegal drugs when arrested, the police said.

Senior Police Officer 1 Francisco Perez Jr. of Consolacion Police said they received a report about an armed person in Barangay Tugbongan yesterday morning and acted on it.

Responding policemen arrived in the area and saw the suspect.

Perez said they were trying to subdue the suspect, but he tried to resist.

The suspect was eventually arrested and yielded a kitchen knife when police officers searched his body.

Reports showed that the suspect allegedly touched his sister’s breast and pelvic area, prompting the latter to scream and be heard by their neighbors.

Irritated and frustrated for not successfully getting what he wanted, the suspect took a knife and threatened to kill his sister.

This prompted the victim to ask for help and a concerned citizen responded by reporting the incident to the police.

Perez said the suspect was apparently “high” in illegal drugs when he was arrested.

The police are now waiting for the decision of the suspect’s sister whether or not she will file a case against her brother.

The suspect is currently detained at Consolacion Police Station and will be facing charges for acts of lasciviousness, grave threat and violation of Batas Pambansa Bilang 6 or concealing of deadly weapons should the victim pursue in suing him. — (FREEMAN)
