CEBU, Philippines - After being suspended last Thursday for lack of permit, stage construction at the Plaza Independencia for noontime show Wowowillie resumed the following day.

“Yes, nag apply na sila ug permit unya mibayad napud sila sa mga fees necessary for the issuance of permit. Likewise, stage construction has resumed this (Friday) morning. A private individual applied for permits,” Parks administrator Arlie Gesta told The FREEMAN.

Cebu City Parks and Playground Commission officials confirmed having received and approved two applications for the TV 5 program and another one for talent manager and Team Rama congressional candidate Annabelle Rama’s birthday celebration.

“The permits were signed just this 3 o’clock in the afternoon by commission chairman Dr. Librado Makaraya,” Gesta added.

The two applications for permit to use the venue were both signed by a certain Marites Caindec.

Gesta said the one who applied was a private individual and not TV 5, the network that produces Wowowillie.

The letter pertaining to the program hosted by Willie Revillame was dated April 22 and stamped received by Parks and Playground Commission April 25.

The other one requesting for usage of the same venue for the purpose of holding Annabelle’s birthday celebration was dated April 23 and stamped received by the Parks and Playground Commission also on the 25th.

Wowowillie is set to hold their show today from 5 in the afternoon to 10 in the evening while Annabelle’s birthday will be the following day with the same time schedule.

City Ordinance Number 2330 specified that permits must be secured at least one week prior to actual date of usage.

“All reservations shall be made at least one week in advance and are subject for review and approval by the Cebu City Parks and Playgrounds Commission,” the ordinance provided.

A commission staff member said the letter applications reached their office at about six in the evening on Thursday.

“I was the one who received them since I was still at the office when the letter was given to us. It was already about 6 pm. Ingon sila, didto pa daw to gikan ang letter sa office ni mayor,” the employee said.

Gesta added that organizers also paid the assessed amount of P10,000 for both activities.

Based on the issued receipts, the amount was equally divided for the two events.

An amount of P2,000 was issued by the city treasurer’s office while the remaining P3,000 served as donation for the Cebu Parks and Playground Foundation.

The same breakdown applied for both Wowowillie and Annabelle’s birthday show at Plaza Independencia.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, Annabelle’s cousin and party chairman of Team Rama, the party which the birthday celebrator also belongs to, said they received word that he will be around during Revillame’s show in Cebu .

“Basin pa-storyahon mi or pakantahon. We do not know. Basta we got invitation to be there,” Mayor Rama told reporters.

As to Annabelle’s birthday celebration, he assured that he will be there being a relative.

“Kay parente man mi, siguradong naa gyud ko didto. Unless di na mi parente kay dili ko muadto,” he added. —/JPM (FREEMAN)
