List not yet final: Rama bares bets for City Council

- Jessica Ann R. Pareja -

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama floated 19 names as possible candidates for the City Council but left the public thinking on who would make it to the final 16.

Rama introduced yesterday Team Rama’s “prospective candidates” before hundreds of vendors attending the 13th Biannual Assembly of the Cebu City United Vendors Association (CCUVA) at the Abellana National School gymnasium.

Rama said these people will be with him either as supporters or council candidates in next year’s election.

BOPK dads defer aid to 8 south district brgys

The political realignment in the Cebu City Council is somehow affecting the release of the financial assistance to eight barangays in the south district.

The majority of the members of the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan dominated council deferred on Wednesday for the second time the resolutions authored by Councilors Jose Daluz III and Eduardo Rama, Jr. authorizing Mayor Michael Rama to sign a Memorandum of Agreement with the barangays for the release of the assistance.

Councilor Augustus Pe, Jr. moved to refer the eight resolutions to the committee on laws, the city legal office and the committee on budget and finance for review. Pe wants the city legal office to review the MOA.

Daluz tried to argue that the review by the City Legal Office is no longer necessary because the legal office drafted the MOA. But Pe insisted that it has been a practice in the council to refer all MOA to the city legal office for review. (FREEMAN)
