Tuburan votes a leadership test for Gwen
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia is optimistic that she will get the majority of the votes in Tuburan town now that Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez, Jr. is in the opposite camp.
Garcia who is seeking her third term as governor said that the results in Tuburan will serve as leadership test for both of them.
Speaking before the more than 8,000 residents during the grand rally, Garcia said she failed to get the support of Tuburan in 2004 and 2007 because the town officials were in the opposite political fence.
The situation has changed this time because she is already supporting Mayor Constancio Suezo and his wife Vice Mayor Rosemarie Suezo.
The wife is running for mayor while the incumbent mayor is running for councilor.
"Dako ang akong paglaum nga karong 2010 nga piniliay, makuha na gayud nako ang suporta gikan sa kinabag-an nga molupyo sa lungsod sa Tuburan," Garcia said.
Garcia told the residents that she did not abandon Tuburan even before the Suezos joined her political party. In fact, Garcia said she has given P100 million financial assistance to the town. (FREEMAN NEWS)
