Bad Atkins

ROVING IMP - ROVING IMP By Kristalle Marie Garcia-Kekert -
We've all heard of the infamous Atkins diet, the one diet plan that many of us were made to believe would help us slim down. I was at a bookshop recently when I came across an Atkins book. I would say that it certainly is an attractive book; no doubt that it would sell. But, I think that it is filled with many ridiculous dieting ideas! To complete this article, I needed backup to support my opinions on the Atkins Diet and here is one individual who has her own story to share.

"Good riddance to Atkins - it nearly cost me my health", exclaims an architect who chooses not to be named. "From the beginning, I felt odd and dried out no matter how much water I drank. Then, I started to get really bad headaches. Soon after, I had the flu, as ill as I could ever remember being. To my belief, it was the Atkins diet that destroyed my health", she says. "I had lost a couple of pounds in six weeks, but it wasn't at all worth the try because my body had been damaged so much that it couldn't fight the flu".

"The only reason why I bought the Atkins book was because of its way of attracting overweight individuals like me. Plus, there had been lots of publicity such as guaranteed weight loss in a few weeks. Think of it, who wouldn't be attracted to such publicity," she explains.

This individual grew up slim and sporty. She gave up smoking in her early twenties and had been exercising regularly for years. "This was not until I had two children and started working long hours. At work, I lose track of time and end up snacking. The stress has made me put on weight", she shares. "So, I decided to do something about it. I had never been on a diet before and the Atkins made it seem easy, such as cutting out carbohydrates and having lots of protein".

She stuck to this diet strictly and the weight loss was dramatic. "On the day I started, I lost 2 pounds and started to drop as the days went by. I was happy, but then, I felt awful! My headaches were bad and I started to have many side effects", she shares.

Having an unbalanced diet is the worst thing anyone can do, especially with the no-carbs diet, which leads to constipation, bad breath, kidney disease, infertility and the constant feeling of being dehydrated. "Many think it's one good way of losing weight, but this certainly isn't a good way to diet! We all have to remember that there is a huge difference between dieting and having a good diet", she says. "Now I am convinced that this had made my body susceptible to illness by lowering my immune system. This is one thing I would never ever want to go through it again", she says. "The Atkins diet is to blame! I just couldn't wait to eat my favourite carbs!"

Dieting on the Atkins regimen is known to be completely wrong. Instead, it makes you ill and fat! The best way is to exercise regularly and eat healthy. Before long, you'll see good results. ·
