GMA's I-Witness kicks off docufest regional tour

CEBU, Philippines - In celebration of its 13th year, GMA-7’s flagship documentary program I-Witness: The GMA Documentaries returns to the big screen! Catch GMA’s finest documentaries in a series of documentary festivals in key cities all around Visayas and Mindanao —a first in the regions.

From a community who risk their lives in search for gold, to the harrowing condition of burn patients in a hospital and to people who live around rail-road tracks facing an imminent demolition … these acclaimed documentaries bring to light important social issues reflecting our society.

Today, July 8, GMA-7’s flagship documentary program I-Witness – bannered by award-winning broadcast journalists Howie Severino, Kara David, Jay Taruc, and Sandra Aguinaldo – will give Serbisyong Totoo to the Cebuanos.

First stop for the I-Witness team is the Kapuso Barangayan with Serbisyong Totoo Activities at the Brgy. Hipodromo Covered Court from 8AM to 11AM.

In the afternoon, award-winning documentaries by Severino (Saplot and Huling Hala Bira), David (Gintong Putik and Ambulansyang de Paa), Taruc (Lapnos and Batang Kalabaw), and Aguinaldo (Batch 2012 and Iskul Ko No. 1) will be screened at SM City Cebu Cinema 7.

An open forum and DVD signing with all four hosts will follow after the screening.

The I-Witness Docufest regional tour will also be held in Iloilo, Davao, Naga, Iligan, Dagupan, and Bacolod. Admission is free.
