HRRAC pushes for standard contact tracing app

Ehda M. Dagooc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  The Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Association of Cebu (HRRAC) wants to employ a standardized contact tracing app, following the reopening of tourism related establishments in Cebu.

“The name of the game right now is contact tracing,” Suarez said referring to the need of hospitality and food service sectors to apply a comprehensive and standardized app.

In a recent webinar, Suarez reiterated the importance of effective contact tracing portal, instead of implementing individual protocol.

Earlier, the business sector in the Visayas pushed for the discontinuation of using pen and paper as part of contact tracing mechanisms of businesses.

This recommendation by the business sector through the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI-Visayas) was approved during the recently concluded Regional Development Council (RDC) 3rd quarter full meeting.

Economic Development Committee (EDC) chairperson Virgilio Brigido Espeleta reiterated the highlights of PCCI joint resolution number 9112020, on eApplications on Health Protocol in order to avoid further contamination of the virus.

The RDC approved resolution by PCCI-Visayas asked the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to issue a memorandum circular mandating all business owners to discontinue the use of pen and paper in recording the entry of all their customers inside their respective business establishments.

It also requests the DTI to issue a memorandum circular mandating all business owners to adopt a standardized QR Code design and format for a more efficient contract tracing mechanism.
