Freeman Cebu Business

Good Hearts

BUSINESS AFTER BUSINESS - Romelinda Girlie Garces -

I thank Angel Buen Jr. who is the Manager of the Cebu and Iloilo branches of Ricky Reyes Parlors. True to his name, he is indeed a good angel. He was among the first to respond to my call for support for dictionaries for a small community elementary school in Sta. Cruz, Davao Sur.

Another generous heart rests with my dear friend Jennifer T. Franco of Travel Vision who also sent in her dictionary to add to the pile Angel sent. With their contributions I add those of my sorority sister Lyna Labata Mendoza and my boss and friend Noel C. Villanueva .

All these books will be turned over to the Barangay Darong Elementary School in the coming days along with the books gathered by San Miguel Brewery Inc. from the employees and from the San Miguel Foundation Inc.

With all these dictionaries, I am sure the children will have a better understanding of the materials they will be reading.

A gesture like this may seem so small for many of those who are used to larger donations but not for the children of the Barangay Darong Elementary School. There is no smallness in the big hearts that have come to share and no limits in the help that comprehension will do when the children use the word finders.

In giving there is nothing better than a hand that extends with the fullness of the heart.

When I was working with the Philippine Business for Social Progress, we were always encouraged to focus on what could be done and not on the big mountains of wonder and anxiety that block the path to doing what one can possibly make. We were asked to start with ONE and to BE the one willing to place the first brick to build a cathedral.

In our sorority, the Pan Hellenic Society of Silliman University, we were also taught TO BE rather seem. To create a relevance no matter how tiny the radius for even faith can start with a speck as small as a mustard seed.

Again, my deepest gratitude to the good hearts who helped me take care of business after business.
