PSHS launches its first Samsung SMART Classroom

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Samsung proves its ability to customize education technology solutions by partnering with the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) main campus in Quezon City.

Together, Samsung and PSHS recently established the first Samsung SMART Classroom, helping bridge the gap between traditional teaching methods and technology-proficient students.

In doing so, Samsung has firmly placed itself in support of the government’s thrust to maximize advances in information and communications technology to improve the teaching and learning process in schools nationwide.

PSHS hosts the country’s most gifted student-scientists and largely focuses on developing their skills and knowledge in math, science and technology.

With this partnership, Samsung manifests its commitment to the advancement of Philippine education by renovating and redesigning one of the PSHS main campus’ classrooms, providing it with hardware and software, to create a fully digital and interactive learning environment.

The Samsung SMART Classroom will enable teachers and students to collaborate in a more dynamic and modern setting while providing quick access to numerous educational tools for a greater learning experience.

The ribbon-cutting of the Samsung SMART Classroom was conducted recently in the PSHS’ ASTB Hall. In attendance were Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp. president and CEO Chung Lyong Lee; Undersecretaries Fortunato de la Peña and Amelia Guevara of the Department of Science and Technology; Undersecretary Rizalino Rivera of the Department of Education; Assistant Secretary Roberto Hizon of DOST; Josette Biyo, executive director of the PSHS System; Virginia Andres, campus director of the PSHS main campus; David Bruce Campbell, director of the National Science Foundation, USA; and PSHS Foundation executive director Linda Cordova.

A brief demonstration of the Samsung SMART Classroom was conducted after the opening remarks and ceremonies, followed by lunch hosted by PSHS.
