More Cookies for everyone

- Alma Buelva -

MANILA, Philippines - LG Electronics has just launched a new batch of Cookie handsets that not only take full advantage of touch-screen technology but also Wi-Fi and solar technology.

The Cookie Wi-Fi, Cookie Ultima, and Cookie Pop are the company’s newest additions to its successful line of premium Cookie touch-phones that started with the LG Cookie KP500.

Raymond Hernandez, corporate marketing head of LG Electronics Philippines, said the new LG Cookie Series “continues the core value of the original Cookie phone which was to lower the barrier to make it possible for every mobile user to experience touch-screen technology.”

“Our new Cookie handsets continue the touch-screen revolution and comes with updated and upgraded smart features to offer enjoyable touch-screen experience,” Hernandez added.

At P7,990, the Cookie Wi-Fi offers 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi connectivity on a slim full three-inch touch-enabled screen (240 x 400 pixels). Add P2,000 and take home the new Cookie Pop which is also a three-inch full touch-screen phone with a three-megapixel camera, a Web browser, and an audio and video playback. But its most unique feature would be its additional solar cell-powered battery cover that charges the Cookie Pop using the sun’s energy. Sold separately, this accessory is part of the company’s efforts to introduce environment-friendly devices made from hazardous-free components.

But if you want all the features of the Cookie Wi-Fi and Cookie Pop in one handset, then the LG Cookie Ultima, for P10,990, offers the same screen size and resolution, similar connectivity options plus 3G and a five-megapixel camera. However, it doesn’t have a solar cell-powered battery cover accessory like the Cookie Pop.

The first Cookie, the LG KP500, made its worldwide debut in October 2008, generating sales of over 13 million units in 13 months. It is LG’s fifth phone to achieve such commercial success following the LG Chocolate, LG Shine, LG KP100 and LG KG270. The Cookie is the fastest-selling full touch phone of LG to date.

The new LG Cookie Series is now available in major consumer and phone specialty shops. An LG local executive said more new Cookie phones will be launched by batches this year, most of which will be targeted at young consumers who, like the Cookie Monster, are probably saying “Me want cookie!”
