PSE to hold its 2nd 'investor relations day' later this year

The first “PSE STAR” (STrengthening Access and Reach) event [link] was such a success that the PSE is looking to hold a second such event, to allow companies to present their Q2/H1 financial reports to investors, analysts, and the general public. Ramon Monzon, the PSE’s President, said that this will be an opportunity for public companies to “share their growth stories and interface with analysts and investors”, and that he hopes the PSE STAR events will “encourage more companies to regularly hold presentations to analysts and investors”.
On behalf of the PSE, Mr. Monzon said that the PSE hopes to host a similar investor briefing event for public companies during the reporting period at the end of every quarter, in order to “increase analysts’ coverage on our second-tier listed companies” and also to “boost investor confidence” as a prerequisite step to increasing demand for the shares of those companies.
The companies that will present and interface with analysts and public investors this round will be: Bank of Commerce [BNCOM 8.29 unch], Bloomberry [BLOOM 5.96 0.33%], Cebu Pacific [CEB 41.85 0.36%], Citicore Energy REIT [CREIT 2.46 0.81%], D.M. Wenceslao [DMW 6.84 unch], D and L Industries [DNL 7.05 0.57%], Double Dragon [DD 7.74 0.39%], Manila Water [MWC 15.68 0.76%], MREIT [MREIT 16.00 0.13%], Petron [PCOR 2.91 0.68%], Philex Mining [PX 3.26 unch], Philippine Seven Corp. [SEVN 66.00 0.08%], Semirara Mining and Power [SCC 40.20 0.50%], Shakey’s [PIZZA 7.02 0.86%], and Union Bank [UBP 74.00 0.34%].
Anyone can attend the event, from seasoned pros, to complete financial tourists just looking to see what's up!
MB BOTTOM-LINE
I encourage everyone with an interest in the stock market to attend. I will be covering this event, as it aligns perfectly with my advocacy to spread knowledge of financial information, and increase our familiarity with both consuming and thinking about that information critically, and with a strategic eye. This is a great event, and whether it’s possible to attend physically, or whether it’s only going to be offered virtually, I think this is a great way to gain some XP by attending your first briefing.
The PSE has some obvious skin in the game to try and improve the liquidity of its non-core stocks, both from a “healthy market” perspective, and from the “income from trades” perspective, but the PSE’s pursuit of that self-interest aligns very well with our interests in this case. More information is better. More interaction between companies, analysts, and investors is better. The more the market develops an expectation that executives should be accountable to shareholders for results, and for the strategies and tactics that they will use to improve those results, the better.
We’ve seen too many companies completely side-step this aspect of the public market, like DITO CME [DITO 3.95 0.25%], which (to this day) has yet to provide a segmented quarterly review of its telco subsidiary, with the basic telco metrics that investors deserve the chance to review, compare, and discuss. Bring it on, PSE! This is a great idea. Kudos to Mr. Monzon, the PSE, all the companies that will take part, and anyone out there that tries to grab some XP by attending.
