Herbal pillow, anyone?

MANILA, Philippines - A local company has introduced a pillow that offers a therapeutic alternative to ease the human body’s muscle pains by using grain seeds, aromatic herbs and essential oils.

Made from 100 percent natural grains, this herbal pillow contains seeds imported from the United States that are placed in cotton organic pillowcases in different sizes, yet generally elongated to enable a person to wrap it around the body.

Its fabric is also made from 100-percent US and Japanese cotton fabrics. Pillow designs vary from floral to plains to prints. This is done so to cater to any age group and gender that would need to use the pillow.

Called Precious Pillow, the product is manufactured by a family of young generation Filipino entrepreneurs led by Albime Chester Sy, who hoped to reach out to the growing health-conscious Filipino family. The pillows organic herbs make the pads more unique, when heated or frozen, since the latter become useful in relieving specific muscle pain and disease.

The pillows can improve circulation, relax tired muscles, relieves swelling, inflammation and stiffness. In essence, the pillow is an herbal version of hot and cold compress. “The seeds release aromas that soothe the body pillow. The seeds are mixed with some essential oils that are released over time,” said Sy.

Precious Pillows can be used in two ways – hot or cold compress. Hot compress works to keep blood circulating normally. It’s good for body pains, muscle and back aches, as the heat contact produces a soothing effect in your body. It also provides relief from a stiff neck and aching joints and serves as a warmer to cold hands and feet.

Cold compress can help reduce post-operative swelling and bruising, caused mostly by sports strains, cramps or any type of injury. It has been shown to be effective in reducing swelling by slowing down the flow of blood and other fluids to the injured area. It is also beneficial in relieving the sensations of pain and it restores strength. It can also help relieve headaches, and be used for general relaxation.
