Jollibee named favorite fastfood chain in Hong Kong
MANILA, Philippines — Filipino-owned fast food giant Jollibee, which operates 20 stores in Hong Kong has been recognized as the “favorite fastfood restaurant” in the island country, known as the special administrative region of China.
Aside from the recognition in Hong Kong, Jollibee was recently recognized as among America’s Hottest Brands by AdAge, and its bestselling Chickenjoy Fried Chicken as the Best Chain Fried Chicken in America by Eater Magazine.
The latest recognition came from Hong Kong-based publication U-Magazine following a voting process involving over 30,000 respondents.
Benson Lo, Jollibee Hong Kong general manager welcomed the recognition.
“We are delighted to be recognized as a crowd favorite in Hong Kong. This award inspires us to continue spreading the joy of eating to more people by serving high-quality and great-tasting food,” he said.
U-Magazine is a travel and lifestyle magazine in Hong Kong covering various topics, including the food scene in the city.
It has been giving the awards for the past 16 years to recognize Hong Kong’s food service industry leaders.
Jollibee continues to aggressively expand in markets abroad as part of its goal to be among the top five restaurants in the world.
At present, it is already in 34 countries, with over 6,300 stores globally with branches in the Philippines, Australia, Bahrain, Brunei, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Panama, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States and Vietnam.
Its eight wholly owned brands are Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, Red Ribbon, Mang Inasal, Yonghe King, Hong Zhuang Yuan and Smashburger.
Its six franchised brands are Burger King, Panda Express, PHO24, and Yoshinoya in the Philippines and Dunkin’ and Tim Ho Wan in certain territories in China.
It also has 80 percent ownership in The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, 60 percent in the SuperFoods Group that owns Highlands Coffee and PHO24, and 51 percent ownership of Milksha, a popular Taiwanese bubble tea brand.
Jollibee Group, through its subsidiary Jollibee Worldwide Pte. Ltd. owns a 90 percent participating interest in Titan Dining LP, a private equity fund behind the Tim Ho Wan brand.
