Globe rolls out improved roaming services

Richmond Mercurio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Globe Telecom Inc. is set to provide the connectivity requirements of Filipino tourists with the expected surge in global travel.

With international travel picking up, Globe has introduced affordable and longer roaming services to help Filipino tourists maximize their trips abroad.

The discounted data roaming called Roam Surf Longer Stay allows users enjoy more gigabytes for more days while spending less.

“The world is gradually opening up two years since the pandemic put travel on hold. More Filipinos are now opting to spend more time in other countries to make up for lost time in terms of travel, and they will be on the lookout for the safest and most convenient way to stay connected,” Globe postpaid and international business vice president Coco Domingo said.

“As they explore the world once again, Globe will be with them and deliver data roaming that’s within their reach, even for longer travel periods,” he said.

Globe said Roam Surf Longer Stay allows users to choose from three, five, seven, 15, or 30-day offers which come with three gigabytes (GB) up to 20 GB data.

The Ayala-led telco said its easy-to-use roaming service not only becomes more affordable the longer users are abroad, but is also very convenient.

It said customers could safely connect from their phone without lugging around another device such as a pocket WiFi or buying a local SIM.

“Roam Surf Longer Stay is meant for cross-country travels as it is currently available in over 70 countries worldwide. Longer Stay promos also give you bigger savings the longer you use it,” Domingo said.
Despite strict travel restrictions during the height of the global health crisis, Globe accelerated its roaming rollout, particularly 5G, to more countries in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.

Globe is currently offering 5G services through SoftBank, and 4G and 5G roaming services in South Korea through SK Telecom and KT Corp.

Japan is now accepting travelers from the Philippines, while South Korea resumed tourist visa application.
