ICTSI Pakistan unit hits 10 million TEU mark

MANILA, Philippines — A subsidiary of International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) in Pakistan has achieved a milestone with the handling of its 10-millionth twenty foot equivalent unit (TEU) at the Port of Karachi.

In a statement, ICTSI said the Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT) reached the milestone after 19 years since starting operations.

“This hallmark achievement is a result of synchronized efforts and dedication of our entire team, along with the fortifying partnership and cohesion we enjoy with our esteemed customers, who are among the key elements of our successful operations,” PICT chief executive officer Khurram Aziz Khan said.

He said the 10 million TEU milestone shows PICT’s commitment to support the country’s economic resilience.

“As we continue to build our legacy, our vision to become the container terminal of choice in Pakistan’s busiest port city resonates with our conscious efforts and focused actions towards improving the ease of doing business, promoting digitalization, and provision of efficient customer services to our clientele,” he said.

PICT operates Berths 6 to 9 at the East Wharf of the Karachi Port.

The common use terminal offers connections to Central Asia, Afghanistan and the Western China hinterlands.
