Vivant Energy, partner bag 15-year power supply deal
MANILA, Philippines — Vivant Energy Corp. and its partner have bagged a 15-year power supply deal with one of Pampanga’s electric cooperatives.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, Vivant Corp. said its subsidiary Vivant Energy and Gigawatt Power Inc. were given the notice of award of the 15-year power contract after Pampanga II Electric Cooperative (PELCO II) concluded a successful competitive selection process (CSP).
The contract covers the supply of 15 megawatts (MW) of the cooperative’s peaking energy requirements.
“We welcome this opportunity to be a partner in the development of the seven local government units being served by PELCO II. Wherever we go, we’ve always been committed to the economic and social development of the communities we serve, and we will make the same commitment here,” Vivant Energy EVP and COO Emil Andre Garcia said.
The Vivant Energy-Gigawatt Power consortium will build a 3 x 5.76-MW diesel-fueled power plant under a build-operate-own program in Porac, Pampanga.
Vivant Energy will own 50 percent equity in the embedded power plant project, which will add to the firm’s capacity as it continues its growth in the power generation sector.
Apart from addressing the peaking power supply requirements in PELCO II’s franchise area, the power plant would also provide stable, reliable and quality power to the power coop’s coverage area even during peak hours.
“Gigawatt Power and Vivant Energy have always been known for the service, commitment and reliability that our power plants provide in the distribution systems of electric cooperatives. We assure PELCO II and its member-consumers the same level of excellence,” Gigawatt Power president Walden Tantuico said.
