NBOSS to improve business registration — DICT

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said business registration in the country will see significant improvement with the National Business One Stop Shop (NBOSS) now operational.

Through the NBOSS, the agency said business registration may now be completed in nine steps within seven and a half days from the previous 13 steps in 33 days.

“Through NBOSS, no time is wasted, there are no complicated process, and more importantly, fixers and red tape will be reduced or eradicated. With NBOSS, in just a short time you can be an entrepreneur,” Information and Communications Technology Secretary Gregorio Honasan said. 

The first NBOSS location was launched at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) office at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City last Friday.

The NBOSS is the physical co-location where applicants can register their business and employees, submit documents, and avail of its online services.

It hosts key agencies such as the SEC, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Social Security System, Philippine Health Insurance Corp., and the Home Development Mutual Fund.

The NBOSS is a joint initiative of the DICT and the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) in partnership with other social service agencies as provided for in Republic Act 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018.

ARTA director general Jeremiah Belgica commended the DICT for linking various government agencies through ICT by allowing an inter-agency system and a whole of government approach to streamlining business registrations.

“Very soon we could really see that things are just going to get better and better,” Belgica said.

Honasan has vowed “to connect everybody to everybody else” through ICT.

“Connectivity does not only unite the country, induce political unity and social cohesion, but also promote economic prosperity,” he said.
