Cebu Pacific moves int’l flights to new MCIA terminal

MANILA, Philippines — Gokongwei-owned carrier Cebu Pacific is moving international flights to and from Cebu to the new terminal of the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) effective today.

“MCIA T2 (Terminal 2) will commence commercial operations at 2 a.m. on July 1, 2018 (Sunday). Cebu Pacific will join 21 other carriers with international flights to and from Cebu in the resort-themed passenger terminal,” the carrier said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific’s domestic flights would be retained at the MCIA Terminal 1.

With the transfer to the new terminal, the carrier’s flight 5J 129 from Incheon (Seoul) in South Korea to Cebu with an estimated time of arrival at 1:40 a.m. on July 1 would be the last inbound flight to utilize MCIA Terminal 1, Cebu Pacific said.

Shuttle buses will be provided to transport passengers between MCIA T1 and T2 every 10 minutes.

Covering 65,000 square meters, MCIA’s T2  is expected to increase passenger capacity to 12.5 million per year from 4.5 million annually.

At present, Cebu Pacific is the largest carrier operating at MCIA through its 385 flights weekly.

Cebu is Cebu Pacific’s second largest hub next to Manila.

At present, the carrier has direct flights from Cebu to the following destinations:  Manila, Clark, Davao, Puerto Princesa, General Santos, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, Ozamiz, Tacloban, Surigao, Butuan, Camiguin, Siargao, Legaspi, Dumaguete, Tandag, Calbayog, Pagadian, Zamboanga, Dipolog, Incheon, Hong Kong, Narita and Singapore.

Apart from Cebu and Manila, Cebu Pacific operates from other hubs in the country such as Clark, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Kalibo, and Iloilo.

Cebu Pacific and subsidiary Cebgo serves 37 domestic and 26 international destinations, with over 108 routes spanning Asia, Australia, Middle East, and the US.
