Cops have persons of interest in DJ’s slay

Romeo Marantal - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The police now have persons of interest in last Saturday’s shooting death of disc jockey Junrey Garces Jimeno, 27, outside a bar in Barangay Cogon-Ramos, Cebu City.

According to Police Major Mark Don Alfred Leanza, chief of the Abellana Police Station, the said persons of interest are being investigated and their hot pursuit operation will continue. They will also look at CCTV footage in the area.

Leanza didn’t go into too much detail so as not to affect their investigation, although he said there are many motives behind the crime, one of which was the information they got that the victim had many enemies.

Investigation revealed that before the crime happened, the victim and a co-worker just left the bar where they worked to get the motorcycle of the co-worker which was parked at a fast food chain.

The co-worker said that while he was following the victim, the suspect, wearing a black t-shirt, drove up on his own motorcycle and suddenly shot the victim in the head. — (FREEMAN)
