Balkman, Brownlee power Alab to 3rd straight victory

MANILA, Philippines — Tanduay Alab Pilipinas leaned on its prolific import tandem of Renaldo Balkman and Justin Brownlee again as it trounced Singapore, 89-80 in overtime to nail its third straight victory in the ASEAN Basketball League at the OSBC Arena in Singapore last Sunday.

Balkman and Browlee combined for six of the team’s 11 points in extension and helped limit the Slingers to just two markers to fashion out the nine-point victory, their third after dropping their first three games with a different set of reinforcements.

Balkman finished with 26 points, eight rebounds, four steals and two blocks while Brownlee had 17 points, seven boards, eight assists, two steals and the same number of blocks.

Balkman and Brownlee also combined for 46 points in a 90-79 triumph over the Wesports Malaysia Dragons at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan last Thursday.
