Falcons subdue Blazers, near Martin Cup semis

MANILA, Philippines — Adamson trounced St. Benilde, 92-84, to close in on the semifinal berth in seniors play while National U crushed Diliman Preparatory School, 90-81, in the juniors side of the 15th Fr. Martin Cup Division 2 basketball tournament at the San Beda-Mendiola gym recently.

The Falcons, led by Conrad Catapusan’s 19 points, outplayed the Blazers to post an eight-point romp in Group B, hiking their card to 5-1 and closer to the semis in the tournament backed by Slick Tight Hair Pomade.

Letran held off National U, 83-79, in the other seniors game.

Transferees Gerry Abadiano and Carl Tamayo fired 16 points apiece as the NU Bullpups trampled the DPS Baby Blue Dragons to bolster their bid for a quarterfinal berth with a 4-1 card.
