Pacquiao warned: Horn unlike anyone you've faced

MANILA, Philippines – Jeff Horn’s camp insisted that Manny Pacquiao will be in for a surprise on July 2 when he stakes his WBO welterweight championship against the Australian.

According to Horn’s trainer Glenn Rushton, the 29-year-old prospect is a different kind of fighter than anyone Pacquiao has fought in his extensive career.

“Manny has never fought anyone like Jeff,” Rushton said in report by Grantlee Kieza of The Courier-Mail.

“And Jeff is the kind of fighter who is difficult to prepare for because you never know what’s coming at you,” he added.

Pacquiao thrives against fighters who love to come forward and go toe-to-toe. Conversely, the Filipino icon is known to struggle against opponents who can box and move well.

Horn falls into the latter category, said Rushton.

“He can turn southpaw like Manny, he can hit you with right hand leads and he can move and fight from angles that Manny hasn’t encountered before,” the trainer explained.

For his part, Horn’s conditioning Dundee Kim echoed Rushton.

“I’ve been studying Manny for 16 years and no one he has ever fought boxes like Jeff,” Kim said in the same report.

Kim added that Horn’s unpredictability will give Pacquiao trouble.

“Most guys Manny has fought come into the ring and they are predictable. Even Tim Bradley - who is a very good boxer—they all start with the left jab, right hand, left hook. But Jeff throws punches from everywhere. He can throw right hand leads as fast as jabs and he can turn southpaw quickly to throw opponents off their game. His pressure technique upsets his opponents’ rhythm,” he continued.

“I think Manny will really get a shock when Jeff starts hitting him hard from angles Manny hasn’t seen before.”
