Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines — Jimmy Alapag on Sunday has broken Allan Caidic’s historic 17-year-old record of 3-pointers made in the  Philippine Basketball Association.

Alapag, who tied Caidic’s record Saturday, shattered the legendary cager’s feat in the second period of Meralco’s Governors’ Cup finals series with Barangay Ginebra at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The former Talk ’N Text and Gilas veteran connected his 1,243rd shot with 4:29 left in the first half.

The “Mighty Mouse” tied the “Tiggerman’s” 1,242 in the final 33 seconds of Game 1.

As of writing, the game hasn’t had a stoppage to recognize the feat. PBA games are usually halted to celebrate momentous records set and broken, but it was not consistently observed.
