PPS Imus netfest lures huge field

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Over 200 age groupers from the host province, the Big City and nearby towns slug it out for top honors in various divisions as the Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala regional tennis tournament shifts to Cavite starting today at the Imus and Mabolo Tennis Club.

Blanche Lagrisola, Gab Zoleta, Cindy Nuguit and Christy Sanosa banner the girls’ 16- and 18-and-under divisions with the young but talented Zoleta also leading the 14-U roster of the Group 5 tournament sponsored by Palawan Pawnshop with Slazenger as presentor.

This marks the first time that Imus Tennis Club will host a ranking tournament with ITC president Robert Bautista guaranteeing a successful staging of the four-day event sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association headed by president and Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez and backed by Asiatraders Corp., exclusive distributor of Slazenger, the official ball.

“This is a big boost to local tennis and to the youth of Imus, Cavite. We thank Palawan Pawnshop and we expect to be a regular stop of the longest-running age-grouper in the country that has been the breeding ground of tennis talents,” said Bautista, a former Palarong Pambansa champion from La Salle-Taft.
