Magic's French guard Evan Fournier in PH ahead of FIBA Olympic qualifiers
MANILA, Philippines — There’s a catchphrase that also serves as a euphemism whenever an NBA team gets the boot in the Playoffs.
“Gone fishing.”
Although in the case of Orlando Magic guard Evan Fournier, one might call it “Gone sightseeing.”
And where else? In the stunning shores of the world-leading seas of Coron in Palawan.
The Magic got an early ticket into the summer break after finishing only 11th in the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association. Only the top eight teams ranked based from their season wins and losses are cleared to compete in the post-season. Magic only won 35 of their 82 outings.
Check out the French guard’s Instagram snaps of his backpacking trip:
His first stop? Of course, in a baller’s natural habitat:
Athletes are known to be daredevils. Fournier shows that in this clip of him taking a plunge in a Coron lagoon:
It seems the Frenchman’s interest is piqued by our very remnants of the second world war.
Anybody out there want to disprove his caption to this shot?
Fournier’s homeland, just in case you haven’t heard yet, will be in the same bunch with our Gilas Pilipinas in the FIBA-Olympic Qualifying Tournaments. The Magic guard is expected to team up with NBA cagers in Nicolas Batum and decorated veteran Tony Parker. Heck, Fournier’s already putting on some sort of work!
