Cebu business community sets meeting with Duterte

CEBU, Philippines - President Rodrigo Duterte will meet with Cebu's business community on March 2, this will be his first meeting with Cebu business leaders since he became President.

Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Melanie Ng announced yesterday that Duterte will induct the new board of trustees of the chamber and will have a dialogue with the Cebu business community at 5 PM in Waterfront Airport Hotel & Casino Mactan.

Prior to the scheduled business dialogue with the President, Duterte will also be gracing the groundbreaking ceremony of the Cebu-Cordova toll bridge project, which will start construction this year.

Ng said they are glad to finally set a meeting with Duterte since he took office last year.

She said the chamber is inviting its members, businessmen, regional government agencies and sectoral organizations to attend the dialogue.

Ng said the dialogue is an opportunity for businessmen to raise their concerns to the President.

"We expect the concerns to be related to current events, the socio-economic agenda of the government which includes the proposed tax reform, ease of doing business, infrastructure, and traffic, among others," Ng said in an interview yesterday.

The chamber expects around 150-200 attendees at the dialogue with Duterte, she added.

Yesterday, CCCI inducted 20 new members during its general membership meeting. (FREEMAN)
